Incredibly flat straight out the bottle. Improved greatly going through the aerator. I think it'll get better with decanting, but it was a spur of the moment decision to open it.
Raspberry, tobacco, blackberry. Moderately high tannins. Berry nose.
Brownish Garnet gem medium and light in the bowl...aromas of crushed herb and spiced biltong ...tastes like that to, at first....with some breathing room the dry cherry makes an entrance trailing a wave of chilli laced chocolate..within half an hour there is a tango with charred greens in complex pepper finish.
Not a fan of red blends, but this might be the exception. Nice smooth finish, tannins, and fair value. 90 Points at Wine Spectator seems a little exaggerated, but not by much. Good table wine.
A great summer French Red, with the proper light body, lots of subtle flavors and a dry finish. Raspberry, cherry, pepper, tobacco, some chalk and earthy tastes from its limestone terroir. I’m really enjoying it on this warm afternoon. Surprisingly, it’s 14.0% alc. a bonus in my book, combining the lighter body, soft flavors and the slightly higher akc.. Very inexpensive is another bonus. I’m all in on this one! And becoming a fan of Gerard Bertrand.
According to the Wine Searcher it is the weakest millésime of the last years. Nevertheless, it is a very interesting wine. I believe that fair score is 3.8. Anyway, nose is a bit restrained, with black fruit and some pickles. In terms of the palate, it certainly benefits from the aeration. There is complex mix of the black fruit, raspberry, red cherry, smoke, tobacco, licorice, followed by strong tannins. This is not a simple wine, but it is really interesting.
